We have experience representing domestic producers as well as importers, exporters and foreign producers in anti dumping investigations in South Africa as well as in several foreign jurisdictions, including Australia, Brazil and the United States of America.
When a domestic producer or industry organisation demonstrates that an exporter in another country is exporting a product to the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) market, at a lower price than they are selling it in their market, and that this practice is harming the domestic industry, anti dumping investigations are conducted by the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC).
A successful anti dumping investigation results in duties imposed on imports of the product which approximate the difference between the domestic price and the import price into SACU.
