Webber Wentzel's tax team has been awarded the
South Africa Tax Firm of the Year title at the International Tax Review (ITR) EMEA Tax Awards that were held on 15 September 2022. Amongst the contenders for this title, were Baker McKenzie, Deloitte, ENSAfrica and Werksmans Attorneys.
This is the fourth year in a row that we have won at these awards (we won South Africa Tax Firm of the Year in 2019, 2021 and now 2022; and in 2020, we won Africa Tax Firm of the Year).
We also won
Impact Deal of the Year for our work on Ardagh Glass Packaging Holdings Africa's acquisition of Consol Holdings. This ESG matter supports the following Sustainable Development Goals: 8 (decent work and economic growth), 9 (industry, innovation, and infrastructure), 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and 12 (responsible consumption and production).
The ITR EMEA Tax Awards, recognise remarkable achievements by international tax professionals from the EMEA region.
ITR's World Tax rankings for 2023 have been released and the firm has maintained its Tier 1 ranking for General Corporate Tax and has now also been ranked Tier 1 in Transactional Tax - a new category. We are ranked Tier 2 for Tax Controversy.
The annual World Tax guide is a key resource in assisting tax professionals locate specialist advice. Each edition rates the tax expertise offered in various jurisdictions, giving tax executives the most comprehensive information about the market for tax advice.
