Christoff Pienaar has returned to Webber Wentzel as a partner in the Technology Media Telecommunications and Intellectual Property Practice.Christoff joins Webber Wentzel from CDH, where he was a director and practice head of its Telecommunications Media and Technology (TMT) Practice, as well as sector head for Financial Institutions, Financial Services and Fintech. He was also a member of CDH’s executive committee.
Christoff is dual-qualified and, in addition to being admitted as an attorney in South Africa, is also a practising solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales. Christoff has a wealth of experience in advising clients on commercial, fintech, information technology and intellectual property law. He has particular expertise in payment systems, technology outsourcing and managed services, fintech, healthcare, software development and software licensing transactions. Christoff also advises on all fintech-related matters, including fundraisings, commercialisation of intellectual property and acquisitions & disposals.
His qualifications include a BA in Law and Politics, an LLB, and an Advanced Diploma in Banking from the University of Johannesburg. He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership Development from the University of Stellenbosch Business School. In addition, Christoff's expertise has been recognised by, among others, Best Lawyers and Chambers Global. Christoff is currently the only Chambers band-one fintech lawyer in South Africa.
Christoff is joined by Mieke Vlok (associate) and Shannon O'Brien (candidate attorney) – both who join from Christoff's team at CDH.
