Webber Wentzel represented a financial sector client in resolving an international commercial dispute concerning investments in two high-impact development projects in the "Global South", worth hundreds of millions of US Dollars. The dispute was resolved by way of international arbitration under the UNCITRAL Rules, seated in London.
The process of resolving this matter was layered with complexity, including extensive factual and expert accounting and financial evidence in several countries in Europe and Africa, interlocutory proceedings across several jurisdictions and fora, and multifaceted forensic assessments. The dispute arose in 2016 and the final award was handed down in 2021, Covid-19 intervening. Webber Wentzel's client was awarded its full claim, in a substantial sum.
This matter was led by Webber Wentzel partner and dispute specialist,
