Gabi Richards-Smith has re-joined Webber Wentzel as a partner in the
Financial Regulatory Practice.
Gabi left Webber Wentzel in 2018 to join Rand Merchant Investment Holdings as Head of Sustainability and Compliance. During her time there, she acquired extensive experience in the regulatory environment, fintech, asset management and property-related legal aspects. She was also responsible for overseeing all legal matters within the group as well as general corporate governance.
Gabi has done general commercial work throughout her career, including debt and equity capital markets-related advisory work.
She has an LLB and BCom (Economics and Law) from the University of Cape Town, and is currently undertaking her Masters in Advanced Corporate Law. This will further bolster her experience and expertise specifically in the field of corporate governance – a critical pillar of work and advice furnished by our Financial Regulatory team to financial institutions.
